Debbie Evans wins review on Babbs Mill
Following Debbie’s petition and public meeting over the proposed development at Babbs Mill, Debbie again took her fight to the Full Council meeting held on the evening of 27th March, following her previous question on 7th February (Council Minutes on SMBC website) and the great news is that the site will now be reviewed.
Debbie says “I am very disappointed that I was the only Councillor who stood up for you on the issue of Babbs Mill at the Full Council meeting on 27th March, the second time I have done this.”
The Conservative Cabinet member agreed that Babbs Mill is a unique site, and has asked a ouncil officers to carry out a thorough investigation into this land as a development site and report back to him. Even better, the Cabinet member has said that if there isn’t enough time to carry out this investigation, then he is prepared to consider moving the site to a later phase of the plan, which could delay the land release for possible development for up to 15 years. So, a great day for all of us who love Babbs Mill just the way it is, but the fight still goes on.
